FIFA World Cup 2010 Finals :: SPAIN VS NETHERLANDS 1-0

Spain's the best football team in the world! Congratulations to Spain on winning their first ever World Cup! They have finally made history and it was a victory they truly deserved.The reigning European champion is now the World Champion :)

The whole match was tight and remained scoreless after 90 minutes of normal time.And who eventually became the Spanish hero? Andres Iniesta! He scored the winning goal in the 116th minute with only 4 minutes of extra time remaining,kicking the ball past Netherlands goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg after a pass from substitute Cesc Fabregas.Iniesta,you are simply amazing!

Spanish captain Iker Casillas was reduced to tears of joy at the final whistle.He became the first man from his country to lift the famous trophy.He is also only the third goalkeeper to captain a side to World Cup glory,after Gianpiero Combi and Dino Zoff.He picked up the Golden Glove Award as well.Well done,Casillas!

Spain,we are so proud of you! Viva ESPANA! Numero uno!!!

Until we meet again,four years from now in Brazil :)

SEMI-FINALS :: SPAIN VS GERMANY 1-0

Spain and Germany,both teams worthy to be in the Final.Thanks to Puyol's superb late header,Spain is now on track to win their first ever World Cup!

They were playing in a very tense atmosphere.There was too much at stake,a game both sides couldn't afford to lose.The only way to stop the Germans was by denying them from scoring early.Mesut Ozil and Miroslav Klose were the danger men every time they moved into the penalty area.But fret not! Iker Casillas was there to save the day,shots were punched away.Casillas,my favourite goalkeeper of all time :)

Beautiful football by the Spaniards once again.Kudos! They are just one step away from history.You guys have all my support and I'll be there to witness a great historic moment!!

QUARTER-FINALS :: SPAIN VS PARAGUAY 1-0

Iker Casillas and David Villa were both Hero of the Day.They did what they do best,saving a penalty and scoring for the team respectively.Paraguay was the underdog but they were no easy opponent.Their resolute defence made things difficult for the Spaniards.

Luckily,extra time was not necessary in this match.It was indeed a sweet victory for Spain.They'll now face the mighty Germans in the semi-finals.Congratulations too,to Uruguay and Netherlands for securing a spot in the Top 4! The winner will be crowned soon...Who will take the World Cup home?

QUARTER-FINALS :: GERMANY VS ARGENTINA 4-0

Some may think that Germany's only capable in beating weaker opponents.But this match proved them wrong.They brought Argentina down by four goal to nil.An unbelievable result! The young German side was simply captivating and kept us wondering how did they do that? They were so perfect in every move.

Argentina was hoping that Messi could weave his magic again.But the defenders knew this all too well and were always getting in his way.We should not blame him as football is all about teamwork.They had a good World Cup outing and definitely deserve a pat on the back.

Thomas Mueller will now miss the semi-finals against Spain after he picked up his second yellow of the tournament.Will this hurt Germany's chance to reach the Finals? We will just have to wait and see!
